You will be picked at your hotel to take you to Amagá, a town an hour and a half away from Medellín, where you will meet a local guide and decide if you will continue by foot or by bike. Then, you will go to an abandoned train station to start the tour and go through hills and train tunnels to arrive at the first gastronomic stop. Here, you will learn about corn and traditional Arepas (corn flatbread). The hosts will explain the process required to turn corn into this delicious meal and will show you the traditional and modern preparation methods. Also, you will have the chance of making arepas accompanied by hot chocolate and cheese.
After, you will cross a train bridge that has an impressive view as it is located over a creek and between two huge mountains. In the way, you will be able to see a landscape with remarkable mountain ranges, and if you have sharp eyes, you will spot birds and even river crabs! Next, you will arrive at the gastronomic stop, where you will taste Arequipe (caramelized milk), Bocadillo (guava paste), and Mazamorra (a cold corn soup). The hosts here will teach you about the train's history and explain some recipes to prepare with the products you just tasted. At the same place, you will visit a woodworking workshop with beautiful furniture and house ornaments produced with particular types of wood.
Finally, you will head to the local's guide house to enjoy a delicious typical lunch as your last gastronomic stop. After this exquisite meal, you will return to Medellín to your hotel.
