"Take the best Medellin food tour with a private English-speaking guide and explore local Colombian food culture."
As you walk through Colombian cities, you´ll see a variety of snacks, fruits, and juices that are representative of each region. You might have wondered about the ingredients and what is best to try, as oftentimes there are no signs to tell you what is offered. Come on our tour to get to know our delicious traditional Antioqueño food with local fresh ingredients.
We will start by picking you up at your hotel to take you to Parque Bolivar, a park with enormous trees, and mesmerizing Medellín's Metropolitan Cathedral. We will enter the Cathedral and contemplate its impressive neo-romanic architecture, before moving on to our first gastronomic stop. Going through Pasaje Junin, we will enter our first stop, a traditional tea room and bakery that has been working for more than 50 years. We will taste delicious baked products such as buñuelos, pan de yucas or almojábanas with a traditional Tinto (black coffee).
Afterwards, we will continue to taste famous Chorizo, Morcilla, Arepas, Patacones, and Criolla potatoes in a typical Antioqueño restaurant that will ambient you in an old Paisa Hacienda while you enjoy your meal. As a tradition to open up your appetite, paisas often drink a shot of Aguardiente (anise liqueur) at lunch or before lunch, so we're keeping up with tradition and drinking a shot of Aguardiente at Salón Málaga, a very interesting and classic place frequently visited to listen to Tango.
We will then get into the tramway to move to Plaza de Flores, a market full of flowers that will charm you with its variety and color. There, we will be able to taste and see the preparation of choclo arepas and local fruit juices and see the dynamics and variety of a typical Colombian market.
To end things properly, we will go to Plazuela San Ignacio for a sweet Oblea as a dessert, while we enjoy the plaza and wait for our driver to pick us up. We will then drive you to your hotel or any other place of your choice in the city.
Though food in this tour is abundant, and we designed it to cover lunch, we can't assure you will be completely satisfied.
Please tell us any food restriction in advance.
