Medellin’s Transformation Part 1 - Economic growth and Innovation

Make the most out of your time in half a day and join this Medellín City Tour. Get to know the most beautiful and relevant places in the capital city of Antioquia while a knowledgeable guide makes sure you learn as much as you like about Colombian culture and history.

You will start the tour in Pueblito Paisa, a replica of a traditional small Antioquian town. Also, you will enjoy an incredible view over Medellín, as Natibura Hill is the perfect place to look over Medellín.

Your next stop will be at Plaza Botero, right in the center of Medellín, where you will discover the unique style of Fernando Botero, one of Colombia´s most famous artists. As you look at the proportionally exaggerated sculptures, you will learn about Botero’s sense of humor and irony. Afterward, you will admire the world’s largest collection of his paintings in the adjacent Museum of Antioquia and have a look at pre-Hispanic, Colonial and Contemporary art and much more.

Then, you will walk to Berrío Square, considered the heart of the city that was built in 1680. Located in the middle of the square you can see the Statue of Pedro Justo Berrío, who was once the governor of Antioquia and an important politician for Medellín and Colombia. From there, you will walk to Junín Passage, a pedestrian street with all sorts of shops and local shops, bustling with street vendors and lively local life. After walking this little “rambla” for some minutes, you will go to Plaza de Bolívar, a place that holds the breathtaking Cathedral of Medellin where local tango singers folk together.

After hearing fascinating facts and stories about the city, its art, and people, the Medellín City Tour will end in its posh and most famous neighborhood El Poblado at Parque Lleras. Tourists, as well as locals, love to enjoy the nightlife in El Poblado, so make sure you come back and don’t miss out on the experience. At last, it’s up to you, return to your hotel or stay in the area and check out one of the excellent restaurants the guide can recommend.
