Medellin’s Transformation Part 2 - Architecture and Infrastructure

Experience the City of Eternal Spring and visit its most important sights on this half-day tour. Enjoy private door-to-door transportation around Medellín and other cities.  With this service, you can count on a friendly and knowledgeable driver (non-English speaker), who will pick you up at your hotel at the desired time and drive you to the most relevant sights in the city. This service is ideal for more independent travelers who do not necessarily require a tour guide.

You will start the tour in Pueblito Paisa, a replica of a traditional small town of Antioquia, where you’ll admire the typical large whitewashed houses decorated with beautifully painted doors, a traditional church, and the City Hall. You will also get to enjoy an incredible view over Medellín, as Nutibara Hill is the perfect place to look over the city.

On your way to the city center, you’ll walk through the tree-lined avenues of Laureles neighborhood; an area that offers a large variety of restaurants and food courts. If you like, you’ll stay there for a while and try a typical Colombian dish (at your own expense).

Your next stop will be at Plaza Botero, right in the center of Medellín, where you will discover the unique style of Fernando Botero, one of Colombia´s most famous artists. As you look at the proportionally exaggerated sculptures, you will learn about Botero’s sense of humor and irony. Afterward, you will admire the world’s largest collection of his paintings in the adjacent Museum of Antioquia and have a look at pre-Hispanic, Colonial and Contemporary art and much more.

Then, you will walk to Berrío Square, considered the heart of the city that was built in 1680. Located in the middle of the square you can see the Statue of Pedro Justo Berrío, who was once the governor of Antioquia and an important politician for Medellín and Colombia.

The last stop of this tour is Medellin’s posh and popular place, Parque Lleras, located in the trendy Poblado neighborhood. Here, both tourists and locals, love to enjoy the nightlife, so make sure you don’t miss out this experience. The end is up to you; you can either return to your hotel or stay in the area to check out one of the excellent restaurants the driver can recommend you.
