Our Journey

January 2010

Rodrigo starts guiding tours in Bogota 

As 21 year-old student of Industrial Engineering, Rodrigo started guiding walking tours in Bogota. He had started in hospitality at 15, as a Coach Surfing host.

June 2014

Juliana starts guiding tours in Cartagena 

Being a German-speaking student of Finance, she saw an opportunity with the cruise ships stopping in Cartagena. Juli would go and find customers at the marina. She was 19 years old.

2013-2015

From guides to entrepreneurs 

Juli and Rodri, became business partners of the companies they worked for. Rodri became a partner of destinobogota.com, an innovative operator of tours in Bogota, and Juli of I Show You Colombia, an operator in the Caribbean coast.

August 2015

DMC Accredditation by Procolombia 

destinobogota.com expanded to Medellin and Cartagena with its innovative approach to experience design. Started providing experiences for larger DMCs. Rebranded to ViaColombia after it was accredited as a DMC by the tourism board.

October 2016

Colombia signs the Peace Agreement 

A new beginning for our country. Impulse took an active role in this process by supporting grassroots peacebuilding initiatives. This was the time Breaking Borders (a tourism initiative by former gangsters) and multiple similar initiatives started.

May 2019

Accelerated by Booking Booster

Impulse joined Booking.com’s prestigious Booking Booster accelerator and created the proprietary HEART framework, enhancing its ability to scale impact-forward tourism with clarity and purpose.

September 2019

Rebranded to Impulse Travel

After years building under previous names, the company reimagined its identity in 2019, emerging as Impulse Travel to reflect its renewed vision and expanded services across Colombia.

January 2020

Named Leader in Music Tourism

Impulse became Colombia’s go-to brand for music tourism, thanks to its celebrated Sounds of Colombia series and partnership with master musician Gregorio Uribe, connecting travelers to the country’s musical soul.

Pandemic (2020-2021)

Pivoted Fully to Social Impact

During the pandemic, Impulse doubled down on impact efforts. They launched Collective Impulse, a nonprofit sister organization, to support community resilience and regenerative practices.

September 2021

Co-Created Meaningful Travel Summit

Impulse partnered with ProColombia and Tourism Cares to host the inaugural Meaningful Travel Summit. A pivotal event aimed at shaping socially conscious tourism in Colombia.

May 2022

Awarded by UNWTO

The company earned a prestigious award from the UNWTO, honoring its innovative contributions to sustainable and impact-driven tourism in the region (SDG-16).

June 2025

Reinforced Focus on DMC Services

Impulse officially separated its tours-and-activities business, choosing to concentrate entirely on its DMC vertical—delivering fully branded, end-to-end services for B2B partners and independent travelers alike.
