Description
This tour is probably the best option for independent travelers who love the outdoors. If you are spending some days in Bogotá and want to do something new, different and outdoorsy for a good price this tour is for you.
Chicaque is a cloud forest 45 minutes outside of Bogotá, with diverse ecological trails that pass through crystalline water streams, oak and native vegetation, and impressive lookouts. This natural park counts with different types of activities that you will be able to enjoy. It has nine well signaled ecological trails, so a guide is not necessary to enjoy a hiking day at this amazing location. It also offers canopy, horseback riding, and birdwatching for an additional cost paid directly at the park. There’s also a restaurant at the park where you can have a meal with a great view over the mountains.
Park’s wildlife includes many birds such as the toucan, guan, the tinamou, pigeon, the cotinga and 15 species of hummingbirds. There have also been recorded 20 species of mammals: Spectacled bear, deer, bobcat, nine-banded armadillos, weasel, possums, night monkeys, two-toed sloth bears, squirrels, and rabbits among others.
So get ready to be amazed by nature’s beauty, let yourself be enchanted by charms and wonders of the forest. Be delighted by the mountain, the spectacular view it has to offer and have a wonderful day in the wilderness enjoying the fresh air away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
On this tour, you will be picked up at your hotel and then you’ll be driven to the natural park where you will be able to do the ecological trails and all the activities you wish (during the stipulated time). As soon as the tour ends, you’ll be taken back to your hotel.

Chicaque Dreaming
★★★★★
What a lovely, memorable experience!! Our guide, Raul Posse, was very knowledgeable about the park and its inhabitants. He was also very patient and understanding as both my partner and I were sick. He offered suggestions to accommodate our needs while ensuring we got the best experience of the park. I wanted to see hummingbirds and Raul made sure that it happened. The park itself was a natural treasure. It was the most relaxing way to finish off our awesome holiday in Colombia!!

Exceptional Service with Impulse Travel
★★★★★
During our stay in Colombia between December 2023 and January 2024, we did a number of experiences which we booked with Impulse Travel. Our consultant, Diego Pulido, was awesome: very attentive and helpful in making our arrangements. It was all arranged via email between Australia and Colombia. Diego always kept in contact, making sure that all my queries were answered and we had all our travel details.
All our experiences, which included four day trips, three half days tours and a three day excursion to San Agustin, all went without a hitch. Our guides, Raul Posse, Natanael Tejada and Mauricio Piedrahita, and our driver, Andres Pinzon, were wonderful, knowledgeable and always on time. All our experiences were memorable in themselves, but these individuals made it even more unforgettable.
To all the lovely people from Impulse Travel, thanks so much for giving us so many unforgettable memories. To anybody planning a trip to Colombia, please get in touch with the awesome people at Impulse Travel and have a chat to them about your plans. You won’t be disappointed!

Beautiful Park, Great service
★★★★★
We booked this transport to Chicaque National Park fully ready to hike the park on our own. However, we decided that we wouldn't mind a guide if they were a biologist and could help us to identify plant and animal species, so we asked Impulse if they were able to arrange a biologist guide. Lo and behold, they were able to find one, even though it was only a couple days before Christmas. Our biologist guide was more than happy to hike slowly and identify as many species as he could. We saw so many fern, orchid, and moss species that we would have never even noticed without his assistance.
One item to note is that the drive to the park is a lot longer than we thought it would be. Thanks to Bogota traffic it took us close to 2 hours each way from La Candelaria. On the positive side, the drive gave us a chance to see a lot of Bogota and the outlying area that we wouldn't have seen otherwise. And the hike made the drive well worth it!
