Itinerary

Day 1

Embark on an extraordinary journey deep into the heart of the Amazon rainforest, a realm teeming with biodiversity and ancient wonders. Your adventure begins with a transfer from your hotel in Bogotá to the airport, where you'll catch a flight to Leticia. From there, you'll be transported to a natural reserve nestled along the shores of the mighty Amazon River. As you step into this lush oasis, you'll be enveloped by the vibrant colors and sounds of the jungle, setting the stage for an unforgettable exploration of one of the world's most biodiverse regions.

Upon your arrival at the natural reserve, you'll be greeted by a captivating landscape adorned with exotic flowers, towering palm trees, and lush fruit trees. The air is alive with the symphony of birdsong, the playful chatter of monkeys, and the flutter of colorful butterflies, signaling your immersion into the rich tapestry of Amazonian life. The structures of the reserve exude an air of lightness, their ethereal walls providing a sense of tranquility and connection to the natural world. Take a moment to relax in a hammock, allowing yourself to fully absorb the sights, sounds, and scents of the jungle.

As twilight descends upon the rainforest, your adventure truly begins with a night walk through the reserve's primary forest. Led by expert indigenous guides, whose ancestral knowledge of the jungle is unparalleled, you'll embark on a journey into the nocturnal world of the Amazon. Immerse yourself in the enchanting sights and sounds of the jungle after dark, as you listen to the chorus of frogs, encounter elusive nocturnal creatures, and marvel at the delicate beauty of flowers that bloom under the cover of night. Keep your senses sharp and your flashlight handy as you explore this captivating realm, where every step reveals a new wonder waiting to be discovered.

As you delve deeper into the mysteries of the Amazon jungle on your first night at the natural reserve, prepare to be captivated by the endless wonders that await you. From the lush vegetation to the nocturnal creatures that call this forest home, each moment offers a glimpse into the extraordinary diversity of life in the rainforest. With the guidance of expert indigenous leaders, you'll gain a deeper appreciation for this vibrant ecosystem and the vital role it plays in our planet's ecological balance. So, embrace the adventure and immerse yourself in the magic of the Amazon, where every step brings you closer to the heart of this magnificent wilderness.

Day 2

In the morning, you will visit a nearby indigenous village, such as El Vergel or Mocagua, to gain an intimate understanding of the daily life of its people. This cultural encounter offers a unique perspective on their traditions, customs, and ways of life, providing a rich and engaging experience.

In the afternoon, embark on a trek through the nature reserve, making your way to the Matamata creek at the border of the Amacayacu National Park. If the water level permits, a canoe will pick you up for a serene journey back to the ecolodge by water. Along the way, you will marvel at the high jungle and creek landscapes, observe diverse bird species, monkeys, and possibly other mammals. You'll learn about plant adaptations, insects, medicinal plants, and hear legends and myths from the indigenous perspective of the forest. During the high-water season, you can navigate within the flooded forest, a truly wonderful experience.

Day 3

On the third day of your Amazonian adventure, you will start your morning with a visit to the enchanting Mocagua Island. This island, located in the heart of the Amazon, is a treasure trove of diverse flora and fauna. As you explore the lush surroundings, you'll encounter a variety of unique plant and animal species that thrive in this tropical paradise. The island is renowned for its stunning interior lakes, where the majestic lotus Victoria amazonica blooms. These enormous water lilies create a breathtaking scene, adding to the island's serene and magical atmosphere.

After a delightful lunch, your afternoon continues with an exhilarating boat ride to the Peruvian margin of the Amazon River. This part of your journey is dedicated to dolphin watching, a highlight for any nature enthusiast. The Amazon River is home to both the pink river dolphins, known as "botos," and the gray river dolphins. Observing these playful and intelligent creatures in their natural habitat is an unforgettable experience. As the day draws to a close, you'll witness the sunset from the river, a spectacle of vibrant colors painting the sky and reflecting on the water. This explosion of color provides a perfect ending to your day, leaving you with lasting memories of the Amazon's natural beauty.

Day 4

Start your day bright and early with an invigorating bird watching experience at 6 AM. As the jungle awakens to the chorus of bird calls, you'll embark on a captivating journey to observe the rich avian diversity of the Amazon rainforest.
