Certified with Purpose: Our Journey to B Corp and Beyond
Impulse Travel is now certified as B Corp: regenerative tourism with real, human impact—empowering communities and reshaping Colombia’s narrative.
Publish: Apr 22, 2025
On this Earth Day, I'm incredibly proud to share something that is both a milestone and a mirror: Impulse Travel is now officially a Certified B Corporation™.
This certification isn't just about meeting standards - it's about living them. For years, we've believed that tourism can be a tool for healing, connection, and shared prosperity. Becoming a B Corp is proof that a business built on these values can thrive while doing good.
A business built for impact From the beginning, our mission has been to connect travelers with the essence of Colombia-and that essence lives in its people. We've built a community of changemakers across the country: chefs, artists, coffee farmers, ex-combatants, and social entrepreneurs who are shaping a new narrative for Colombia.
To guide our work, we created the HEART framework, which keeps us focused on what matters most:
Human connection: Travel is about people. Every experience we offer is designed to foster genuine encounters that go beyond superficial tourism.
Economic Opportunity: We intentionally link travel to local income generation-because a stronger local economy builds safer, more resilient communities.
Authentic Experiences: These aren't staged moments. They're real stories, voices and traditions, curated with care and context.
Regenerative Approach: We go beyond minimizing harm. We aim to actively contribute to community well-being and ecosystem restoration.
Top Quality: Because impact and excellence should always go hand in hand.
This framework has become the backbone of everything we do-from designing a city tour in Bogotá to co-creating rural adventures with grassroots leaders.
What the numbers say
Impact can be emotional-but it should also be measurable. Here's a snapshot of what we've accomplished so far:
We've co-created experiences with more than 40 social enterprises and community-based initiatives across Colombia, and our operations involve more than 80 changemakers.
More than $210,000 USD has been directly invested in conservation and peacebuilding initiatives thanks to tourism revenue generated directly by travelers who joined us through Impulse.
More than 10,000 travelers have experienced Colombia through these responsible, immersive experiences led by Colombian Changemakers.
Each of these numbers represents people-leaders taking charge of their future, travelers leaving with more than just memories, and tourism building bridges, not walls.
Strengthening the Movement: Beyond Trips
Our work doesn't stop with running trips. Together with our sister nonprofit, Collective Impulse, we've led several initiatives to strengthen the capacity and sustainability of our network of changemakers.
From leadership workshops to digital marketing training, from product co-creation to micro-investment facilitation, we've worked hand-in-hand with community leaders to ensure that tourism is not just transactional, but transformational.
And we're just getting started.
Why B Corp and Why Now
Becoming a B Corp isn't a destination, it's a checkpoint on a longer journey that we're walking with intention. It's a commitment to continuous improvement and to staying true to our founding belief: that business can be regenerative, inclusive, and deeply human.
In Colombia's post-conflict era, this matters. We've seen firsthand how tourism can help repair the social fabric, restore dignity and create space for reconciliation. The road to peace is long - but every encounter, every story, every shared meal helps pave the way.
Turning purpose into legacy.
We'll keep doing what we love: building ungoogleable experiences with heart. We'll grow our network of changemakers, invest in community-led innovation, and invite more travelers to see Colombia not just as a destination, but as a living, breathing story of resilience and creativity.
Because our goal is bold - and deeply personal.
We want Impulse to be the travel company in Colombia that enables the greatest number of changemakers to live with dignity, doing what they love.
That means more partnerships, more trainings, more bookings-but most of all, more lives sustained through meaningful, community-driven tourism.
To everyone who's been a part of this journey, thank you. Let's continue to prove that tourism can be one of Colombia's most powerful allies. One trip, one connection, one changemaker at a time.
