You’ll explore San Vicente del Caguán (Caquetá), a region that was once a hotbed of clashes during the country’s armed conflict. These ex-combatants and community members are now athletes and certified rafting guides who will lead you in a life-changing experience that combines adventure, nature and peace teachings. 
 

Day 1: San Vicente del Caguán:

Your guide will pick you up at your hotel in Bogotá and accompany you to the airport for your flight to San Vicente del Caguán, the municipality where your adventure begins.

Following the monumental efforts that culminated in the signing of the Peace Agreement in September 2016, marking the end of a conflict spanning over 50 years, the town stands as a symbol of resilience and recovery.

Commence your journey around 2:00 pm with a warm welcome and check-in at your hotel in San Vicente del Caguán. By approximately 3:00 pm, embark on a captivating tour along the 'Trocha de la Memoria' or the Path of Memory. This urban exploration of San Vicente del Caguán takes you through its streets, revealing the town's history and exploring significant places that played crucial roles in its community. Gain a profound understanding of how the town triumphed and emerged stronger after the peace agreements concluded the armed conflict.

As you navigate the town, witness the resilience of a community rebuilding itself, with each step echoing the transformative effects of peace. Marvel at landmarks that hold deep meaning for the locals and appreciate the collective spirit that prevails.

Conclude the day's adventures with dinner on your own, immersing yourself in the local culinary scene. After a day filled with exploration and reflection, retire for the night.

This itinerary not only provides a unique perspective on the town's history and resilience but also offers an opportunity to be part of the ongoing narrative of peace and progress in San Vicente del Caguán. Immerse yourself in the vibrant tapestry of this transformed community, where every street and landmark tells a story of triumph and hope.

Day 2: Rafting Experience in El Pato River

The next morning, following breakfast, you'll depart from the ETCR to embark on a thrilling rafting experience along the historic Río Pato, guided by ex-combatants.
 
You have the option to choose between navigating the river rapids or enjoying a leisurely boat tour. Cruising downstream through the Los Cajones sector, you'll explore the impressive canyon of the Pato River and traverse its caves, home to Guácharos (oilbirds) and various other wildlife species.
 
Prior to both rafting activities, you'll receive an introduction to the history of the Pato River and essential safety recommendations to ensure you make the most of this unforgettable experience. The boat trip lasts approximately two and a half hours.
 
After the exhilarating river experience, return to the ETCR for lunch and prepare for an informative stroll to the community's productive projects, followed by a visit to the local Museum of Memory. This museum, curated by ex-combatant women, showcases artifacts preserved by the community since the time of conflict. Here, you'll hear about their experiences and lessons learned after surviving the war.
 
Before departing, savor a frozen arazá juice, an Amazonian fruit prepared by a woman from the community.
 
In the evening, engage with ETCR residents during a cultural night, where discussions on the area's historical memory, personal life stories, and participation in a music activity await. 
 

Day 3: Rafting Experience in Miravalle

 
Embark on an exhilarating adventure in Miravalle, where nature and excitement converge to create an unforgettable experience. Nestled in the heart of Colombia, Miravalle has evolved into a haven for those seeking both adrenaline-pumping activities and a connection with the local community.
 
Commence your day at 8:00 am with a delightful breakfast at the community restaurant, immersing yourself in the flavors that define the region. As you savor the local cuisine, you'll feel the warmth of Miravalle's hospitality, setting the tone for a day of exploration and exhilaration.
 
After breakfast, gear up for an adrenaline-filled activity – Rafting in Miravalle. Board the vehicles that will transport you to the starting point of the level 4 rafting adventure along the Pato River. Your journey kicks off with a technical briefing, providing you with the skills needed for the thrilling descent that awaits.
 
Around noon, take a break and enjoy a refreshing snack during a midway stop along your rafting route. Indulge in a delicious spread of regional products, thoughtfully prepared by a community leader, enhancing the authenticity of your experience.Following the exhilarating rafting activity, relish a well-deserved lunch at 1:00 pm back at the community restaurant. The flavors of Miravalle come alive in each dish, providing a culinary journey that complements the day's adventure.
 
As the afternoon unfolds, at 3:00 pm, delve into the community's projects with a visit to the coffee project. Immerse yourself in the world of coffee cultivation, gaining hands-on experience and insight into the community's sustainable practices. The tour culminates with a return to your hotel, allowing you to unwind and reflect on the day's activities.
 

Day 4: Return to San Vicente del Caguán


As the sun gently rises at 5:50 am, embark on the Milky Way Trail, a pathway unveiling the diverse flora and fauna of the region. Stroll through lush landscapes, passing vibrant crops that reflect the agricultural abundance of Miravalle. At the trail's end, immerse yourself in the tale behind its name, unraveling the intriguing history of the Milky Way.
 
By 8:00 am, your morning adventure gracefully pauses, providing a well-deserved break. Delight in a scrumptious snack at a local community member's farm, enriching the authenticity of your experience. These locally sourced delights offer a taste of Miravalle's culinary charm, leaving you energized for the next leg of your journey.
 
At 8:15 am, bid farewell to Miravalle as you embark on the journey back to San Vicente del Caguán. This leg of your adventure takes you to the heart of the municipality, setting the stage for the grand finale at the airport. As you approach the airport, anticipate the upcoming return flight to Bogotá, marking the conclusion of a truly immersive experience.
