Description

After the enormous effort made for the Peace Agreement (signed in September 2016) that ended more than 50 years of conflict with more than eight million victims, Colombia is in a crucial moment that will define the path for the next decades. To understand the present, heal the wounds from the past, and build a solid peace fabric for the future, it is necessary to look at ourselves from a different angle and understand the tremendous complexity of our history and the contradictions that have been part of us.

Our Weaving Peace tour is our way to address a central part of Colombia’s story and present moment, in a fun, interactive, and didactic way. Whether you are interested in history and politics, or just culture and gastronomy, this is for you. We have crafted this tour with the help of academia, artists, changemakers, and chefs to make it a MUST for every traveler who comes to Colombia.

This tour visits different key spots in Bogota’s city center, walking along Avenida Jimenez towards Plaza de Bolivar, learning about all the history that holds the streets as you taste a variety of street food. Arrive at Fragmentos space, an anti-monument by the renowned Colombian artist Doris Salcedo that speaks about the transition towards peace (gallery closed on Mondays). Following this, enjoy a savory meal at Luz Dary's restaurant, where her journey from displacement to culinary recognition symbolizes resilience, hope, and the power of everyday passion in peacebuilding. After lunch, delight in a selection of exquisite chocolate that embodies stories of hope and resilience.

To finish off, visit Casa de la Paz, an open-for-dialogue space where we will taste craft beer made by former FARC combatants and hear about their process of reintegration into society, and have a chance to know more about the entrepreneurship arising from the peace process.

Highly recommend Impulse Tours
★★★★★

The Weaving Peace tour created by Raul Posse, who was also our guide, is one of the best I’ve had. Truly a heart experience. As we visited landmarks and local business and heard the success stories of people who had been displaced in the turbulent years leading up to the 2016 Peace treaty I was stunned by how much Colombia has evolved in a short period of time. I gained a deeper understanding of how the economic, political, cultural and societal threads of people with differing perspectives need to be skillfully woven together to create change. Everything about the tour was remarkable, but the time we spent at Fragmentos was profound. I highly recommend Impulse Tours and spending a day with Raul!
