Day 1: Santa Marta – Mamey – 1st Camp (L, D)
Your first day of the trek begins with the morning meeting point at 8:30 am at the Magic Tours main office (in the Historical center of Santa Marta). Hop on a 4 wheel-drive vehicle and enjoy a 3-hour road trip to a small town called El Mamey, where you’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant serving typical Colombian Food.
After lunch, the first trek begins. It’s a 4-hour hike to the first campsite, stopping along the way whenever the group needs a break. When we reach the camp, we will have dinner and then hit the sack, resting up for your long day of trekking the next day.
Day 2: 1st Camp – Mutanzi – 3rd Camp (B, L, D)
We will wake up early and eat a quick breakfast before departing around 6 am for our 2-hour trek to an indigenous village called Mutanzi. We will then walk for about 40 minutes from Mutanzi to the 2nd Campsite where a delicious lunch will be waiting for us. Rest for a while and get ready for one last 4-hour trek to the 3rd camp, where dinner will be served.
Day 3: 3rd Camp – Ciudad Perdida – 2nd Camp (B, L, D)
After breakfast, leave camp around 6 am for the hike to Ciudad Perdida, which you’ll reach around 7 am and enter by climbing its 1,200 stone stairs. You’ll have two hours to explore the ancient city, set in the dense jungle. Our guide will give you a quick tour and be present to answer all of your questions.
After, we will return to the 3rd campsite where we’ll have lunch and will be able to rest for a while. In the afternoon, get ready for a 4-hour trek back to the 2nd camp, where you’ll have dinner and stay the night.
Day 4: 2nd Camp – Mamey – Santa Marta (B, L)
After breakfast, the longest hike will take place. We will trek for 7-hours, mostly downhill, to el Mamey, where we’ll have lunch again, as we did on Day 1. Our guide will then drive you back to your Santa Marta via 4 wheel-drive vehicle.
We’ll arrive in mid-afternoon, concluding our trekking tour.
